Jake Saper is a General Partner at Emergence Capital, where he’s spent over a decade backing category-defining companies like Ironclad, Guru, and Mechanical Orchard. He led the firm’s 2024 investment in Mechanical Orchard, helping pioneer the fast-growing “AI-enabled services” category. Raised by serial entrepreneurs in Austin, Jake’s passion for building was shaped early and fueled a global career - from launching solar projects to consulting to venture at Kleiner Perkins. Since 2016, he’s been writing and investing around the idea that AI can improve how we work, including co-authoring Emergence’s thesis on AI Coaching Networks and the AI-Enabled Services Playbook. He holds degrees from Yale and Stanford, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Outside of work, he’s a singer, a guitar enthusiast, and a dad of three girls who inspire his mission to build companies worth working for.
